shitty savannah bars

Society is forcing "appropriate clothing" on men, as well, which I find to be equally upsetting. Each sex should have the same rights in terms of covering their bodies. Just as I believe that women should be allowed to go topless, I also believe that men should have the freedom to wear skirts, tank tops, short shorts, heels, and anything else that women enjoy. The line that separates menswear and womenswear needs to dissolve. If you've been following my blog for the past couple of months, you will probably recognize my friend, Ethan Russ:

There is a bar in Savannah called The Crypt which we attempted to enter one winter night. We were turned away because Ethan was wearing a fur vest. Another girl that was in line with us was wearing the exact same fur vest, but she was admitted. The doorman told us that he would only let Ethan in if he took the vest off. The bouncer's blatant homophobia was enough to make us lose interest in the bar, and we have made a point to avoid it ever since.

On a similar note, we also boycott a bar called The Jinx, which kicked us out because I allowed Ethan to have a sip of my drink. Apparently this was against the rules because the drink prices are cheaper for girls than they are for boys, so sharing drinks between genders is prohibited. For those readers who are unfamiliar with the Savannah area and this particular bar, I must point out that this is an edgy music venue which is frequented by plenty of people who are rocking a rather androgynous look. Why a bar like this would ever choose to put up a gender barrier and have different rules for each is beyond me. How on earth would you enforce something like that, without making someone prove their gender? And more importantly - why would you want to?
